A professional potter since 1994, Brenda has participated in art shows from New Jersey to Florida. Originally from the Philadelphia/New Jersey area, she migrated to Boone in the early 90's. The scenic Blue Ridge mountains inspire her designs. Through self-study, workshops, and classes, Brenda has crafted her ceramic designs into original, functional pieces.
"My work, with few exceptions, is a red stoneware, thrown on the pottery wheel. I carve my own stamps. The pots dry completely and are then bisque fired in the kiln. After cooling, a glaze coat is applied. The pots can either be dipped or, for a more extravagant design, brushed on on a spinning pottery wheel. I also use a wax resist method on selected pots."
