Hands Gallery is a
co-operative in Boone, North Carolina and has enjoyed
30 years of successful operation. We consist of 15-20 members who display and sell their
crafts and cooperatively run the gallery. Since each member is responsible for
keeping the gallery open at their respective times, handling the cash flow,
participating in management decisions, attending membership meetings and maintaining
the gallery, our jury requirements are stringent. With these stringent standards we have
built quite a strong business.
Our cooperation is as vital to our success as are our
crafts. The basis for this cooperation
is the trust and respect we have for each other. This allows us to work steadily towards the growth of Hands and
all of our members. This is why we ask
that you include the information requested on the application form.
When applying to sell your work at Hands Gallery
you may apply either to be a member or to sell your work on consignment. Members must live
within 50 miles of the gallery and meet a host of other requirements which you can find on our
membership application available on this site. If you are accepted on consignment your
responsibilities will be much fewer but your selling fees higher and you do not have to meet
the 50-mile radius requirement (although we prefer you to be as "local" as possible.)
Each of the members has a full display of work in the gallery.
While many members sell in shows and galleries throughout the country, our gallery is
the best place see a full range of their work. Each day, a member is working
in the gallery and members are encouraged to work at their crafts at these times.
Hands Gallery is located in the heart of downtown Boone at
543 W. King St. We are open every day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
except Thanksgiving and Christmas. Our phone number is (828)
262-1970.
